Status “Not Ready”: how to fix it

“Not Ready” means that the platform cannot reach your SIM card right now: the phone is offline, the app is not running, or the SIM card cannot receive SMS. While the status lasts, the number cannot be rented out and does not earn. If a number spends more than 6 hours in “Not Ready” status in one day, that day is not paid. This checklist goes from the quickest checks to the settings that cause most cases.

The same checklist also applies when support tells you that SMS are not arriving on your number: at that moment the number may show “Ready”, but the messages still do not reach the app.

Quick checks

Start here. These steps fix most cases within a few minutes.

  • Restart the app, then restart the phone and wait 5 minutes. The status changes to “Ready” as soon as the app reconnects to the server. This alone fixes about 90% of cases.
  • The phone has a stable internet connection via Wi-Fi or mobile data. Open a few pages in the browser: if they load slowly or drop, the app loses the server too.
  • The SIM card shows a signal and is not blocked: the balance is not negative and the tariff has not expired. Top up prepaid packages on time.
  • Check for operator SMS about a top-up or the number being switched off: sometimes “Not Ready” means the SIM card is not receiving messages because the operator has blocked it. To read them, temporarily set the regular Messages app as the default SMS app; once the problem is fixed, switch back to Sharing SMS.
  • Sharing SMS is set as the default SMS app. The app asks for this on first launch; you can also set it later in the app settings.
  • The app has all the permissions it needs to work stably: SMS, Phone, Location and Notifications. How to check them is described below.
  • If the Messages app offers RCS chats, turn them off: they interfere with SMS delivery to the app.
  • Network: enable data roaming, switch the network operator manually to another one in the phone settings, and set the network mode to 2G only or 4G/3G/2G (auto). Details are in the network settings section below.
  • The Sharing SMS app is open and you are logged in. Tap the number in the list and check SIM Info: it shows what the app currently sees.
  • The phone is charged and not in power saving mode.

Let the app run in the background

Most “Not Ready” cases happen because Android stops the app to save power. The phone looks fine, but the app is no longer running when the screen is off. Two buttons in the app settings take you to the right screens:

  • IGNORE BATTERY OPTIMIZATION. Tap it and allow the app to ignore optimization. Without this permission Android puts the app to sleep after a few hours.
  • OPEN APP SETTINGS. Tap it to open the app’s About screen in Android settings. Look for Battery, Battery usage or Activity control and allow background activity. Where there is a choice, select Unrestricted. Also allow autostart if your phone has this option.

Then check the phone’s own settings: turn off power saving mode, make sure the network connection stays on in sleep mode, and lock the app in the recent apps list so that clearing recents does not close it. The exact names depend on the manufacturer; the most common ones are below. Menu names change between versions, so if you cannot find an item, use the search field at the top of Android settings and type “battery” or “autostart”.

Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO (MIUI, HyperOS)

Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Sharing SMS: turn on Autostart and set Battery saver to No restrictions. In Settings → Battery, turn off Battery saver. To lock the app, open recent apps, press and hold the app window and tap the lock icon; on some versions it is in Security → Boost speed → Lock apps.

Samsung (One UI)

Settings → Apps → Sharing SMS → Battery: select Unrestricted. In Settings → Battery → Background usage limits, turn off Put unused apps to sleep and add Sharing SMS to Never sleeping apps. Turn off Adaptive battery and Power saving. To lock the app, open recent apps, tap the app icon above the window and choose Lock this app.

Realme, OPPO, OnePlus (realme UI, ColorOS, OxygenOS)

Settings → Apps → App management → Sharing SMS → Battery usage: allow Background activity and Auto-launch. In Settings → Battery, turn off Power saving mode and Sleep standby optimization. To lock the app, open recent apps, tap the menu above the app window and choose Lock.

Vivo, iQOO (Funtouch OS, OriginOS)

Settings → Apps → Sharing SMS → Battery: allow High background power consumption. In i Manager → App manager → Autostart, turn on Sharing SMS. To lock the app, open recent apps and swipe down on the app window until the lock icon appears.

Tecno, Infinix, itel (HiOS, XOS)

Settings → Apps → Sharing SMS → Battery: allow background activity. In Phone Master → Power saving, remove Sharing SMS from the list of apps to be cleaned or frozen, and turn on Auto-start for it. To lock the app, open recent apps, press and hold the app window and tap the lock icon.

Huawei, Honor (EMUI, MagicOS)

Settings → Battery → App launch → Sharing SMS: turn off Manage automatically and allow Auto-launch, Secondary launch and Run in background. To lock the app, open recent apps and swipe down on the app window. We do not recommend these phones: even with these settings the app is often stopped.

Motorola, Google Pixel, Nokia and other near-stock Android

Settings → Apps → Sharing SMS → Battery: select Unrestricted. In Settings → Battery, turn off Battery Saver and Adaptive Battery. That is usually enough.

Network settings

  • Preferred network type: 2G only on older or budget phones, 4G/3G/2G (auto) on modern ones. Avoid modes that keep the phone on 3G: many operators have already switched it off. See the guide to network settings.
  • If the SIM card finds no network, turn off Automatic network selection, select the operator manually and restart the phone.
  • If the phone is outside the SIM card’s home country, enable data roaming for that SIM card in Android settings. Some operators also require one outgoing SMS to activate SMS reception in roaming.
  • If you replaced the SIM card or reset the phone, check these settings again: they may have been reset.

Permissions and the default SMS app

After an Android update or a cleanup by a “booster” app, permissions may be reset. Tap OPEN APP SETTINGS, open Permissions and check that SMS, Phone, Location and Notifications are allowed. Then confirm that Sharing SMS is still the default SMS app: Android settings → Apps → Default apps → SMS app. What each permission is for.

If the status does not change

  • Take the SIM card out, wipe the contacts, insert it again and restart the phone. If you have another phone, try the SIM card in it to rule out a phone problem.
  • Send the log file to support: open the side menu of the app, tap the version 7 times, then on the Heartbeat screen tap LOGS and share the file. How to send the log file.
  • Write to us with the number, its current status, the phone model and the Android version. Support and Contacts.

How the 6-hour rule works

The platform checks every number around the clock. Short breaks do not matter: a day is paid if the number spent no more than 6 hours in “Not Ready” status. If it was longer, that day is not paid, and you will see it in the Incidents section of your Personal Account with the time of each status change. Support may also contact you when a client has ordered your number but its status is “Not Ready”, so keep your contact details up to date. To learn about a problem right away, set up notifications: Telegram incident notifications.
